Angling in Uttarakhand Situated in the rich farm belt of Terai, on the southeastern fringes of the great forests, the busy market town of Ramnagar is the main administrative centre for Corbet National Park and Project Tiger. Ramnagar makes a fishing base camp. At Lohachaur, 15-kms north along the River Kosi, good anglers are in with a chance of landing the legendary Mahseer, a redoubtable battling River Carp. Permits to have a go must be sought from the Project Tiger office in Ramnagar; most resorts also arrange all inclusive fishing trips. Itinerary : 5 Nights and 6 Days Day 1: Arrive at Corbett National Park. Arrive at Resort by lunch. After wash and change and a sumptuous lunch, we would take you on an escorted nature and bird walk into the Sal forests surrounding camp. It is an excellent opportunity to walk in the cool of the forest, to be so close to nature and to appreciate the varied plants, insects, birds, mammals and reptiles that inhabit this part of the country. THE QUIETER YOU ARE, THE MORE YOU WILL SEE. Back to camp by sundown for campfire and dinner, which is leisurely and personal. Along with the excellent cuisine, your guide and hosts will amuse and amaze you with their stories of exciting experiences. Then it is time to relax once again and enjoy carefree chatter by the fireside whilst feasting on the unique sounds and smells that your exclusive location offers, before retiring to bed with only canvas separating you from the Indian jungles. Day 2: Whole Day angling on the Ramganga River Early morning depart from Camp by jeep for the Ramganga River with your fishing guide and a packed meal. Whole day would be spent angling on the Ramganga River. Drive back to Camp by evening for campfire and dinner. Overnight at Jungle camp. Day 3: Jungle camp to upper Ramganga River Depart early morning by jeep for the upper Ramganga section, a drive of 4 hours from Camp. Arrive at the campsite by the river- packed breakfast on the way. The whole day would be spent on various sections of the river with a picnic lunch. Back to the campsite by evening for dinner and overnight stay in camping tents. Day 4: Whole Day angling on the upper Ramganga River Get on the river early morning with your fishing guide. Whole day angling on this section, which promises some exciting fishing. Back to the base camp by evening for dinner and overnight stay in camping tents. Day 5: Upper Ramganga to Resort. Half day angling on the upper Ramganga River. Pack up and drive back to Resort by late noon. Arrive at Jungle Camp by evening for campfire and barbecue. Dinner and overnight at Camp.
