The Chadar Trek Duration : 15 Days The word "Chadar" means "white sheet or blanket". And that's what it appears like when you walk over the white frozen Zanskar river. This trek though a demanding one gives you all the thrills of a great adventure. Temperatures can plummet to as low as -30° and even though you walk through amazing landscape you have to be prepared for a really cold experience of course kept warm by glowing fires which we light up each evening at camp. Our daily trek begins at around 9:00am and by then the sun's up and blue skies bring cheer despite the cold temperatures. The trek goes along the Zanskar River in the region of Lingshed and constitutes a walk of around 15 days with 3850m / 12,628ft. Being the highest altitude reached. Many of these spots cannot be accessed during the summer months as they go through spectacular deep canyons and gorges. A once in a lifetime trek. Day 1: Take the early morning flight from New Delhi to Leh. On arrival we meet you and check you into a comfortable warm hotel. Day 2: Morning sightseeing of Sankar Gompa and the modern Shanti Stupa. Overnight at hotel. Day 3: Drive from Leh to the village of Pishu where we meet our porters and drive further to the village of Chilling by Jeep. Overnight. Day 4: We begin our Chadar trek by walking on the frozen Zanskar river from Chilling to Zaribago a trek of about 5 hours. Camp. Day 5: Walk on the frozen Zanskar river for about 4 hours from Zaribago to Deepyokma. Camp in a cave. Day 6: Today's walk involves 4 to 5 hours from Deepyokma to Nyrakpulu below the Nyarak village. Camp Day 7: Leaving Nyrakpulu it's a one hour walk to the small village of Lingshed. Today we enjoy the comfort of a private house with heating. Overnight. Day 8: Rest Day in the warmth of a private home in Lingshed. We can walk around visiting the monastery and meeting monks and the local villagers. Overnight. Day 9: Lingshed to Nyarakpulu - a walk of about five hours to our campsite. Day 10: Nyarakpulu to Tso mopoaldar a four hour walk to the campsite. Day 11: Tso mopoaldar to Tilatdo - another day of walking about 5 hours. Day 12: From Tilatdo we walk up to Chilling village from where a Jeep takes us back to the warmth of our hotel in Leh by evening. Day 13: Rest day in Leh. Day 14: Catch your early morning flight back to New Delhi and check into your hotel. Day 15: Day at leisure and transfer to the International airport by late evening or early morning for your international flight.[Submit Query ]
