Har ki Dun Trek Har ki Dun Trek The western part of Uttarkashi district of Garhwal, Uttarakhand is known as Fateh Parvat and Tons river separates this part from Himachal Pradesh. This is a Land of Kauravas and here only in whole world you will find the Temples of Duryodhana – the Kaurava Prince and Karna. The beautiful Har-Ki-Dun valley has a backdrop of snowy high Himalayan mountain peaks and dense forest of pine, devdar, confer forest. This valley is a virtual paradise for the nature lover & botanist. The Best season to visit Har Ki Doon valley is during the monsoon when multi colored flowers bloom, presenting a heavenly sight but travelling during this time is very difficult due to heavy rain possibility of land sliding and flooding. Recommended time of travel is from end April to June and post monsoon in the month of September and October. DAY 01, DELHI – NAUGAON (310 KMS): In the morning at 0700 hrs board Shatabdi Express from New Delhi railway station for Dehradun. Breakfast onboard. Arrive Dehradun at 1240 hrs, pickup and after lunch drive to Naugaon. Arrive Naugaon in the evening & check into the guest house for dinner & overnight. DAY 02, NAUGAON – SANKRI (82 KMS) – TALUKA (1900 MTS, 10 KMS, 2-3 HRS TREK): Morning after breakfast drive to Sankri and from here trek start for Kari – Ki – doon. Today trek to Taluka 10 kms from Sankri. Dinner & overnight in the tented camp. DAY 03, TALUKA – OSLA (13 KMS, 4 – 5 HRS TREK, 2559 MTS): Today trek to Osla, one of the most beautiful villages in the Fateh Parvat region. The trek is through very dense forest of Chestnut, Walnut, Willow and China. Here, you have a beautifully carved temple dedicated to Duryodhana, the kaurava Prince. Overnight in the tented camp. DAY 04, OSLA – HARI – KI – DOON (14 KMS, 4 – 5 HRS TREK, 3566 MTS): Today trek to Hari – Ki – Doon. The trek passes through terraced mountain fields, lush green grassland and coniferous forests. The attractions of Har Ki Dun Trek is beautiful scenery with a series of flowered meadows of gentians, anemones and buttercups with the glistening snow clad Swargarohini Peak, which is famous in Hindu legend, being 'the gateway to heaven'. Overnight in the tented camp. DAY 05, HARI – KI – DOON – OSLA: Morning free to enjoy the beauty of hari – ki – doon. After early lunch trek to Osla. Overnight in tented camp. DAY 06, OSLA – TALUKA - SANKRI: Today trek to Sankri, a down hill trek. Reach Sankri in the evening and check into the guest house for overnight. DAY 07, SANKRI – MUSSOORIE - DEHRADUN: Morning after breakfast depart by motor coach for Dehradun. Enroute visit Lakhamandal, Kempty Falls & Mussoorie. Arrive Dehradun in the evening and after dinner board Mussoorie Expree or H.Nizamuddin A/c special train for Delhi. Overnight onboard. DAY 08, DELHI: Arrive Delhi in the morning and terminate the Har Ki Dun trekking tour. Extensions possible in Har Ki Doon trekking: RUINSARA TAL (Lake): Ruinsara tal is a beautiful Himalayan Lake located 12 kms from Osla and more or less from Har Ki dun. From Har ki dun it will take 4-5 hrs trek to reach Ruinsara tal and next day another trek of 4-5 hrs you will reach Seema village and from here to Taluka and finally to Sankri. Just one extra day is required to club this beautiful lake in your Har ki dun trek itinerary. JAUNDHAR GLACIER: Jaundhar Glacier is a full day trekking from Har Ki dun and you have to start the trek early in the morning and this trek is little tough but worth visiting. Swargarohini peak base is also close to this glacier and on the way you can have the beautiful views of this legendry peak. HAR KI DUN VALLEY & RUINSARA LAKE REGION : GARHWAL HIMALAYA SEASON : JUNE--JULY OR OCTOBER DAYS : 07 DAYS GRADE : MODERATE HIGHEST ELEVATION : 3510 METRES This trek follows a tributary of the Tons River to the beautiful valley of God--Har Ki Dun. Enroute to Har Ki Dun follows the established village trail to the highest settlement at Osla. Here, you have a beautifully carved temple dedicated to Duryodhana, the Kaurava Prince. Thereafter we follow same trail which Gujar Shepherds follow with their buffalo for grazing around both Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake.
